The childcare choices website is an extremely useful site detailing the various ways childcare can be funded.
30 hours funding
For working families, up to 30 hours of funded childcare a week may be claimed. In order to be eligible, parents must expect to each earn (on average) at least £125 per week up to £100,000 a year. You do need to apply for this funding as unlike the 15 hours funding, it is not automatic.
Free early learning and childcare
The Early Years Education Funding for 2, 3 and 4 year olds is funded by Devon County Council. All 3 and 4 year olds are entitled to a certain amount of free early education and childcare per week. This is called the Early Years Entitlement. Find out more about the Early Years Entitlement from the Devon County Council website.
The Early Years Pupil Premium (EYPP) is additional government funding for childcare providers to improve the education they provide for disadvantaged 3 and 4 year olds.
Some 2 year olds are also entitled to free early education and childcare. This funding is based on your child’s circumstances or your family income. If your child is eligible, you will be sent a purple ticket (previously know as a golden ticket) which you can use to access the free childcare. Find out more about Golden Tickets and what you should do if you think your child is eligible but you haven’t received one.
